G.V. Phoenix soccer Is getting BIGGER and better!

PHOENIX families, welcome to 2010! We will work very hard to make this a wonderful experience for your player and families. Juan Carlos Cervantes - Director of Coaching and Player Development has opened up a great new approach to allowing your young soccer player to have more fun, learn easier and quicker and spend less time on the sidelines. Your child will learn how to play like just like the pros did! This method of 4x4 shows kids how to be more comfortable with the ball and not be scared. Our goal is to make this more engaging for all kids and build a more concrete foundation! Soccer is played in virtually every country around the world, with over three million youth participants in the U.S. alone. Details on the 4v4 is outlined in the 2010 Phoenix Phyler that is posted on the site under players/newsletters.

Requirements: Players are required to wear shin guards and soccer socks over the shin guards for both practices and games. Soccer cleats are suggested but not required. U6 & U8 will use a size 3 soccer ball and U10 will use a size 4 soccer ball.

Buddy System: We can guarantee ONE "buddy" request, as long as that "buddy" requests you and not someone else. If you choose to request a "buddy", please make arrangements.
Practices/Games: Practices will start the week of May 10^th and games will begin the week of June 7th. STARTING TIMES will vary, from 5:00, 6:00 or 7:00pm and will run for one hour. Practice/game nights for each age level are as follows:

U6 (Co-ed) play Mondays & Wednesdays (Lillian Seeman Park – Golden Valley)
Girls U8 and U10 play Mondays & Wednesdays (Field TBD)
Boys U8 and U10 play Tuesdays & Thursdays (Field TBD)

You will receive a practice/game schedule via e-mail around the May 1st kick-off date.

Player Developmental Clinics ARE INCLUDED in your player’s soccer registration fee and will focus on development and fun. These clinics will be hosted by our Coaching Director, Juan Carlos at Lions Park-Golden Valley. Players must wear shin guards and bring appropriate size ball. Dates are; Sunday April 25th, Saturday, May 8th, Sunday, May 23rd, Saturday, May 29th and Saturday, June 12th. Times: • U6 co-ed (size 3 ball) -11:00-12:00pm • U8 co-ed (size 3 ball) -12:00-1:00pm • U10 co-ed (size 4 ball)-1:00-2:15pm

Other Important Dates:

Saturday, May 1st - Coach/team "kick-off" will be held at Lions Park in Golden Valley. Players will meet their coach, meet the team, receive their team T-shirt. A short practice will be held. Have your players come ready to play. If you cannot attend the kick-off, your coach will contact you directly within a week. Times TBD.

Saturday, May 22nd^-Golden Valley Days Parade! The parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. Lineup time is at 8:45 a.m. We would love our teams to participate in the parade showing their soccer spirit. And don’t forget to wear your team T-shirt! More info to follow.

Saturday, June 5^{th -}Phoenix Recreational Soccer Jamboree - Lions Park, Golden Valley. Team pictures will be taken & each recreational team will participate in "mini" games. There will be food, T-shirts/sweatshirts to purchase, a raffle with great prizes, along with other goodies and fun for the whole family. A picture and game schedule to follow.

June 21^st-25th - Phoenix Summer Soccer Skills Camp – 9:30-12:00, Lions Park in Golden Valley. Please see the forms section for a registration form and clinic fees.

Sunday, July 25^{th -}End of season family picnic/potluck! 5:00pm BROOKVIEW PARK in Golden Valley....at the big Pavilion.
